Stephen H. Roberts is Chief Executive Officer of the Citi Markets & Banking, Australia/New Zealand and Citi Country Officer Australia based in Sydney Stephen joined Salomon Brothers as an investment banking associate in 1984 and the following year was transferred to Sydney and promoted to Vice President in 1985. In 1989, he was appointed Director with responsibility for opening and heading the firm's Melbourne office. In 1992 he transferred to London as Director of European Capital Markets. He left Salomon Brothers in August 1995 to work as Regional Head of Capital Markets for Lehman Brothers in Hong Kong. He rejoined Salomon Brothers in August 1996. Prior to his career with Salomon Brothers, Stephen held positions with the Australian Treasury and the Australian Foreign Service as Vice Consul in New York. Born in Australia, Stephen holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Australian National University. Citibank Consumer BankRoy Gori, Country Business Manager, Australia
Roy Gori was appointed Country Business Manager in April 2008 and is responsible for the overall performance of Citi's Consumer Bank operations in Australia which includes the Citibank and Diners Club brands. Prior to being appointed Country Business Manager, Roy was the Director of Credit Cards and Consumer Lending for Citibank. Roy has been with Citi for over 20 years and worked in a number of countries during that time. After joining in 1987, he moved through a variety of roles and departments including Operations, Treasury, Collections and Finance, where he was the Chief Financial Officer for the Retail Bank and the Insurance Company. In 1997 he moved to Singapore as the Asia Pacific Regional Head of Financial Data Warehousing. Two years later Roy relocated to Thailand, initially as Chief Financial Officer and then as Business Manager for Citigold, Credit Cards, and Consumer Lending in early 2002. He returned to Sydney as the Consumer Lending Business Manager in August 2003. Tom Burns, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for Citi Smith Barney International, assumed responsibility for running the Australian Citi Smith Barney franchise in February 2008. With more than two decades and a diverse background in the securities industry, Tom played a key role in the establishment of the business in 1999 through the purchase of ANZ Stockbroking and HSBC Stockbroking. Today, Citi Smith Barney has six branches and 460 employees in Australia and is acknowledged as one of the country's leading full service brokerage firms. Tom's previous roles with Citi Smith Barney's predecessor firms included Corporate Controller of Shearson Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney's Chief Financial Officer during the merger period of Smith Barney and Shearson. His subsequent responsibilities have included heading the firm's New Business Group, chairing the New Products Committee and leading the Technology Controller's Group. Tom is a graduate of St. Francis College and a Certified Public Accountant of the State of New York. Jeremy Nestel heads up the Australian & New Zealand operations of Citi Private Bank. He took up the position in February 2002 from the United Kingdom where he was the Private Bank's Business Head for the United Kingdom and Channel Islands and Managing Director for Citibank International Plc, Private Banking Division. Jeremy joined the Private Bank in 1989 as the Head for the Philippines team. In 1995, he moved to London to become Head of the Private Bank's EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Marketing. In mid 1998, he was appointed EMEA Division Head of Compliance. Jeremy then went on to be the Private Bank's EMEA Chief of Staff where he assumed responsibility for managing the strategic restructuring of its European business. His earlier career included Aetna International Asset Management (Hong Kong) and Arthur Anderson (Hong Kong). Jeremy holds a Degree in Economics from the University of Hull.
