We have an annual talent review process that sources and identifies high potential employees for succession in critical roles locally, regionally and globally. We believe firmly that employee development is the springboard to our future success. As a Citi employee, you will have access to some of the best training programs offered by any financial services institution in the world.

Learning within the Citi context is not all about attending training courses. Some of the most powerful growth opportunities happen on the job. To leverage our talent, we offer internal and external mentoring programs to employees. We also have accelerated development programs available locally, regionally and globally; an example of this being our ongoing Management Associate Program.

A number of tools exist to enable employees to effectively manage and develop their careers. Identification of career development needs can take place by accessing our Maximise your Potential career tool – an online tool that enables self–assessment of career anchors and motivators, thus providing a platform for career development decisions. In addition to this, employees are able to take part in 360–degree reviews to gather tangible feedback on performance, and the strengths and deficiencies that exist in the execution of their role.

A competency framework is in place that drives many of the career management processes. This framework sets out success factors for current and future roles and provides a roadmap of competencies that need to be addressed in order to effectively perform and advance. Development actions are linked to the competency framework. This enables an alignment between identified competency needs and the specific action that will address the need. These actions include; development activities that are integrated with the employee’s work function, coaching and mentoring options, classroom based training, either by external vendors or through regionally based curriculum and access to e–learning programmes.
